Meet The Outfit-Makers

Accessories make the outfit so we’re heating things up this season with a BR-curated collection of pieces that are timeless, fresh … unexpected. All of them hail from our favorite US designers who take quality, craftsmanship and luxury to new levels.

Elizabeth Cole designer Stephanie Owen.

Elizabeth Cole

Vibrant colors and whimsical flourishes set designer Stephanie Owen’s glass stones apart. Using an artful mix of vintage and new, she’s captured a little bit of sunshine you can wear. “When designing the pieces I couldn’t help but smile and giggle,” Owen grins. “I feel that joy and happiness expressed in each piece.” Not only are the silhouettes unusual, but this season’s aviary-inspired pieces feel fun and sophisticated. Reach for them anytime you want to channel a vacation state of mind. “I’m always inspired by Mother Nature and this collection is a literal expression of that. I really wanted to capture the depth and texture of a flamingo’s wings and the toucan’s beak.”

August

Jenna Jackson of August handbags.

Based in LA, and run by female artisans, August works with tanneries around the world to create hand-painted and hand-finished leathers the exude everyday luxury. “This season I was inspired by Denali National Park in Alaska—it’s in the way the snow starts to melt as we come out of winter and into warm weather,” shares August designer Jenna Jackson.  “We love mixing natural elements into our modern way of life. Little details like wood inlaid hardware remind us of nature as we buzz past the metal skyscrapers in our day to day life.” Speaking of metallics, pair a high-sheen clutch like the Chelsea with broken-in denim and a white T-shirt for day, then pull it out again after hours with a show-stopping dress. Already have a go-to purse and need a chic makeup bag? Done. August has perfected the art of the pouch.

Designer Eugenia Kim

Eugenia Kim

Feminine and playful with a dash of wit, Eugenia Kim’s pieces speak volumes without a word. Each one takes a fresh and innovative approach, harnessing the glamour of jet-set Havana. Hot nights ahead.

“We’re celebrating the glamour of Havana and Cuban women in modern day,” Kim says. “Raw straw (like the forever-favorite Flavia bag), natural raffia, leather and feathers collide to create a juxtaposition of unabashed decadence and high energy.”
