BR Q&A: Color Guru Jenn on True Hues
We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate Diversity Month with the launch of True Hues, our inclusive range of nude necessities for all. From camis to heels, the project was personal to everyone who worked on it. We caught up with our color specialist Jenn who hand-selected and developed the colors, to learn what it took to bring this idea to life. In her words, it started with “a designer and a dream.”
IN LIVING COLOR
The process of matching color standards to skin hues, and vice versa, is not easy: “There are a million shades to the skin. And there are undertones: there’s cool tones and warm tones.” To start, she pulled a range of neutral shades in the BR color library and started matching the swatches to skin tones—evaluating the undertones and tweaking accordingly until everything was just perfect. “This was a very emotional project for the team. We had to get it right.”
The result? A beautiful range of nude shades that range from Biscotti to Espresso. “This is just the beginning. I want to develop more shades. There’s so much space for more in between.”

COLOR PROUD
To give the new collection a spin, we teamed up with dancers from Full Out Studios, a dance company in Oakland, California dedicated to diversity and inclusion. “Showing diversity is important so that everyone can grow up seeing different clothes they relate to,” Elisa said. We couldn’t agree more!
