Editor’s Letter: The January Issue

Happy 2020! I don’t know about you, but this new year feels particularly monumental. A new decade. A fresh start. A 20/20 outlook. If I had to sum up our January stories in one word it would be: elemental. Focusing on what we do best—premium foundational pieces (with a twist!) that transform your wardrobe. I’m not talking basics here—it’s more than that. I’m talking about your go-tos. The pieces you can always depend on to make you feel confident—No. Matter. What. Check out our 20 Pieces for 2020 to get the scoop on all the pieces we want to build our 2020 wardrobe around. Then explore our January Look Book for creative inspo.

With the start of each year, people often reflect on the past (hello, Spotify retrospectives!) and look toward the future. We dug through our archives to reminisce on the past decade at Banana Republic. From introducing our Mad Men Collection in 2011 and custom designing Virgin America uniforms in 2012 to debuting at NY Fashion Week in 2015 and celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2018—it’s been quite the adventure.

As we look to the future of Banana Republic, we asked ourselves, what do we really want to focus on this year? Over the coming months, you will learn how people and planet are at the heart of what we do. Last year we announced our sustainability goals. In the coming months, we are excited to share our progress on those goals and more. Please keep checking back for more details.

We’d love to see how you are kicking off 2020! Tag @bananarepublic and #ItsBanana (for the guys, @bananarepublicmens and #BRMens) on Instagram for a chance to be featured on our feed or an upcoming email.

Happy New Year!
